I had to make it go offline but I can not delete the updates. I don't want this shit and steam is forcing my computer to accept software without even asking! There is no longer any option with fallout 4 to pause the download, to update only when launched or anything. Not sure if it's Steam or Bethesda being despicable. The second workaround /u/rich-platinum-ore suggested where you edit the appmanifest file has to be used in offline mode: You close Steam, edit the manifest, turn off your internet while you start Steam and the game up, and then you can turn it back on.Anyway to my problem: Why is it that steam or Sega or CA or whoevers fault it is, make the game unplayable OFFLINE without updating?I don't have enough monthly internet usage to update or buy FOTS but not letting me play normal Sogun 2 or ROTS in offline mode kinda sucks.Offline Mode allows you to play games through Steam without having an active connection to the Steam Network. This feature is useful when you have limited or no internet access.Steam isn't running on startup and before I manually start it I disable my network connection. Currently I have downloaded something like 20,000 MB of 25,892.2MB. Which, of course means I have to wait another 20 days and pay another 60-70 bucks worth of internet or something. You have to already be in "offline mode" in order to play without an update coming after the update release. Leave your STEAM connection in "offline mode" all the time UNTIL you are ready to accept any updates.
Also keep in mind that while in Offline Mode, Steam and your games will not receive important updates.
set the game to not download automatically so it doesnt go to the download queue, then you can launch it via the file in MGSV's game folder.
this only works if you havent let the update downloader mess up your files.better method so you can still launch from Steam:"Close steam, find the appmanifest file that corresponds with the game's appid, open it in notepad or another text editing software, change the "State Flag" to 4, the "Bytes To Download" to 0, and the "Update Result" to 0...
Always manually close Steam before shutting your computer down or running out of battery life if you wish to use offline mode for an extended period of time.
IMPORTANT: The Steam client application's files must be updated to allow for the use of Offline Mode.
